Job Description
A global FMCG manufacturer is rapidly expanding across the APAC and European regions through both acquisitions and organic growth. They are widely recognized for their innovative products and quality, which continue to transform the industry.
Headquartered in Sydney, the company is currently undergoing a Global Supply Chain Transformation, establishing both in-house and outsourced (3PL) operating hubs throughout Europe and Asia, in addition to their already strong presence in ANZ.
The business is generating $150 million in revenue and has a strong desire to further penetrate global markets, supported by an ambitious private equity group that is heavily investing in cutting-edge technology and automation to build a resilient, high-performing, and sustainable supply chain for the future.
They are now looking for a highly motivated Operations Director to ensure the seamless integration of global logistics, warehousing, and distribution functions to enhance operational efficiency and excellence.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Global Operations Director is tasked with optimizing global logistics operations and developing a high-performing operational model that supports the company’s current and future growth.
This role includes managing the distribution center (warehouse) in Australia and ensuring the smooth integration of global logistics, warehousing, and distribution functions to promote operational efficiency and excellence.
Job Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:
Formulate and execute a global operations strategy that aligns with the company's growth goals.
Identify and spearhead key initiatives to improve operational efficiency and scalability.
Cultivate a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence across all logistics and distribution functions.
Logistics and Supply Chain Optimization:
Oversee global logistics operations, encompassing transportation, warehousing, and inventory management.
Develop and implement best practices for logistics processes to ensure timely and cost-effective product delivery.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline supply chain processes and enhance overall efficiency.
Warehouse Management (Warehouse site managers in place):
Manage the distribution center in Australia, ensuring optimal performance regarding storage, handling, and distribution.
Improve inventory accuracy, order fulfillment, and operational productivity.
Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards within the warehouse environment.
Operational Efficiency:
Analyze and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to pinpoint areas for improvement and drive operational efficiencies.
Apply lean manufacturing principles and other operational improvement methodologies to minimize waste and boost productivity.
Lead initiatives aimed at improving order accuracy, reducing lead times, and enhancing customer satisfaction.
Team Leadership and Development:
Build and lead a high-performing operations team that fosters a collaborative and results-oriented culture.
Provide mentorship, coaching, and professional development opportunities for team members.
Ensure effective communication and collaboration across all levels of the operations team.
Technology and Innovation:
Identify and utilize new technologies and automation opportunities to enhance operational capabilities.
Drive digital transformation initiatives within the operations function to improve data visibility and decision-making.
Stay informed about industry trends and innovations, integrating best practices into operations.
Financial Management:
Develop and oversee the operations budget, ensuring it aligns with the overall financial goals of the company.
Monitor and control operational expenses, identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or efficiency.
Prepare and present regular reports on operational performance and financial metrics to senior leadership.
Skills + Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field; an MBA or advanced degree is preferred.
At least 10 years of experience in global logistics or operations, with a proven history of leadership in a similar capacity.
In-depth understanding of logistics, warehousing, and distribution processes, with experience in managing large-scale distribution centers.
Proven ability to develop and execute strategic initiatives that enhance operational efficiency and promote growth.
Exceptional leadership and team management skills, focusing on cultivating high-performing teams.
Proficient in technologies related to logistics and warehousing.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to make informed, data-driven decisions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, facilitating effective collaboration across functions and regions.
Ability to excel in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to evolving business needs.
